Rice / Jones MBA Deadlines and Essay Topics 2018-2019

The Rice University – Jones Graduate School of Business admissions committee has announced the Jones MBA deadlines and essay topics for applicants targeting the Full-Time MBA Class of 2021. Jones MBA applicants will respond to two required essays as well as an optional essay.

2018-2019 Rice / Jones MBA Essay Topics

Essay 1 (Full-Time MBA & Professional MBA)“Everyone has a unique story and path that have led them to this point.  What is your story from both a professional and personal standpoint?  How does the Rice Business experience fit into your story?”

Please choose only one method of communication that you would like to use for your response:

• Write an essay (300 word limit)
• Share a video (one to three minute time limit)

Essay 2 (Full-Time MBA & Professional MBA)Please choose to answer one of the following prompts (300 word limit):

• “Rice is a community of curious thinkers, passionate dreamers and energetic doers who believe that improving the world demands more than bold thought and brave action.  It takes unconventional wisdom.  What does unconventional wisdom mean to you?”
• “In the Rice MBA classroom, you will encounter a diverse and inclusive environment.  What will you bring to the classroom that is uniquely you?”

Optional EssayIf you have any additional information for the admissions committee or if you wish to clarify any aspect of your application (including breaks in employment, your choice of recommendation providers, your past academic performance, etc.), you may submit an additional, optional essay. (750 word limit)

Re-applicant EssayIf you decide to apply again, you will also need to complete an additional, required re-applicant essay:

“Think about the time that has elapsed since you last applied to a Rice Business program. What actions have you taken to improve your candidacy?” (750 word limit)
